My slipper distance friend

Sweetest M stopped by for a cup of tea and a chat.

We always have very interesting discussions. Development, whether it's personal, professional or spiritual. We are both intrigued by understanding human psychology in the wider aspect. And life in general I guess! Very energising.

Reminder to myself: this is one of the biggest advantages of living in Stockholm, i.e. having friends on "slipper distance".

It's pink...

My Elegant friend N had a baby the other day. Text message begins: "It's pink..." I smiled thinking about a pink baby screaming it's way into life as we know it. Message continues and it becomes clear it's a little girl. Couldn't help thinking: would message have read "it's blue" if it was a baby boy? Sorry Elegant N, this is not about your text message really, but about who decided pink is for girls and blue is for boys? No judgement, just curiosity. There must be some some history here, which has had a huge impact on the toy industry. And the same history may explain why yellow is neutral. Because it is, isn't it?

What happened to the library?

Walking past the city library today I realised I haven't visited a library since I was a student. I miss the library! I remember going to the library as a child, leaving with a big pile of books fully prepared for the holidays in case of rainy summer days. Today the library has been replaced by paperbacks and audio books. I'm wondering, what does the library look like these days? And do you have to be a student or accompanied by a child to feel you belong?

Options

In today's coaching session I was reminded of the three available options you have in any unacceptable situation:
1. Remove yourself from the situation
2. Change the situation
3. Completely and fully accept the situation
Anything in between will just lead to frustration.

Quite simple really, but worth repeating more than once...

Shoes

Being the target audience for Sex and the City, I love some of the lines. One of my top 10 quotes when it comes to defending extravagant shopping:

"Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single girl's shoes. That's why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun!"

My other excuse is that I can't help it; I have it in my genes as my grandfather was a shoe merchant.

Where I'd rather be...

Going to yoga class in Stockholm isn't exactly the same...but it will do. Trusting my muscle memory to take me back to the beach!

Courage!

Day one of new blog. Purpose: don't just think it; put it out there so that the universe knows :)!
