Herring and snaps. Whatever the occasion for celebration is, we seem to fall back on the same traditional food. Add potatoes and any kind of pork meet, be it sausages, ham or meatballs and it's a done deal. The Swedish smörgåsbord where vegetables shine with their absence and where family recipes are all about pickling. And then the excessive intake of coffee and biscuits, all homemade of course. The whole concept around 'fika' reaches its peak during the holidays like there is no tomorrow. You probably have to be Swedish to really appreciate the magnitude of this culinary experience.
